I have always been a huge fan of finding old pieces in my closet and figuring out how to update the look, essentially changing the vibe entirely. I truly believe fashion is all about mixing new pieces with old pieces and making them fresh and current. Some of the best pieces date back many years and just need to be refreshed. This look epitomizes everything I love about joining the old with the new.
For starters, my mother has always been a very fashionable person and she has some amazing pieces in her archives. I have to give her credit as I did steal this blouse and belt straight from our cedar closet in the basement many years ago. Both pieces have continued to remain staples for me over the years.
I wanted to mix and match the stripe Georgette top with a leather pant and animal skin pump to continue to build on my love for mixing textures and fabrics. I knew the Kieselstein-Cord belt would give some dimension to this look as well as taper in the blouse as it does run big. End result: joining the old blouse and belt with my new leather pants and Sergio pumps! This is such an easy look to recreate — take any over sized blouse you own, picked up at a vintage store, borrowed from your mom or a friend… and just add a belt at your waist. This instantly will update the simplicity of the blouse and make it more fashion forward.
Hope everyone has a great Thursday and enjoys reading. x
