Happy Thursday! I’ve keeping this post short and sweet as I’m running out the door to work. I’ve been totally MIA and completely bedridden the past few days – I don’t know if it was the flu, or a virus, or total sleep deprivation but this girl has been SICK! I’m finally turning the corner and slowly easing back into my routine, so here is a new blog post to kick things off 🙂
I’ve always been a big fan of monochromatic looks. Sometimes, I literally wear all dusty blush (down to the jeans) and pop in a nude shoe to keep the palette light. Here, I decided on cream and all black – perfect for the winter (and today, since it is like -0 degrees outside in the city!) I honestly think I gravitate towards monochromatic colors because they are chic, simple, and refined. I tend to feel colors build nicely upon each other in different shades (shades of grey and blush, as seen here.) and I dress within a ‘law of the two’s.’ For example – two colors (black and cream, nude and blush,) two standout pieces (faux fur vest and bold sweater,) two bold accessories (bright colored bag and great choker,) etc. Once you bring it to 3 items – it tends to look overboard. To elaborate on that, when you see someone styling a leopard shoe with a fur vest and a crazy pair of earrings — overboard. When you see someone style a leopard shoe with a chic black top with jeans and a great pair of earrings — you want to know where they shop. I promise, this is a thing. My ‘law of the two’s’ in this post would have to be this amazing faux shearling vest (which is unfortunately old but I love this one I came across online, as well as this Nordstrom find) and my very bold cream booties. I kept the rest of the outfit very simple (without the vest, it would look totally different…. and with a black bootie for example – much more toned down.) Two, two, two…. my fashion secret revealed 🙂
Hope everyone stays warm today and has a fab weekend ahead! x A
